At Work Series 9 – The Informal Florist

Its been a while since I posted an “At Work” session but this is worth the wait ! We didn’t get round to it last year but it was one I wasn’t going to let slip by.
I had already met Claire while helping out at a photo shoot with Carol Dunne and Sharon Hearne-Smith, being familiar with her work already it was lovely to meet her in person.

The smell of the gorgeous fresh flowers and great company – it is a space I could linger in all day.  This lady is highly in demand these days and would be on my wish list if I was getting married again.

Here is the The Informal Florist at work in her studio preparing for a big wedding the following day. It was a pleasure to hang out with Claire and see how so much work goes into the wonderful floral displays at weddings.
Thanks for sharing your space with me.

At work series 8 – The Cake Stand

Here is the final instalment for 2013 of a personal project, titled “At Work” and it is a yummy one! The very lovely and very talented Iseult Janssens, the lady behind The Cake Stand.
I was delighted to be introduced to Iseult and her wonderful work two years ago and since then we have had such wonderful chats and a few yummy photo shoots ! She was always going to be on my list for this project and I was thrilled when she agreed to it.
You will just have to imagine the smells that distracted me so much during this shoot and if you have not tasted her delicious, award winning, macarons then rush out and buy some – they are a treat.

Check out some previous posts of mine that feature a selection of The Cake Stand’s gorgeous cakes and her website for all her details.

At work series 7 – Jenny Walsh Design

Almost at the end of the personal project, “At Work”, for 2013, I do have a couple of people that I didn’t fit in to 2013 and can’t wait to arrange a date with them early 2014.

Today’s blog post features the designer Jenny Walsh, I am sure you have seen her gorgeous Cuckoo and Grandfather Clocks as they regularly feature in interior magazines etc. – and we are now the proud owners of one of her Cuckoo Clocks!
It has been a real privilege to meet all these talented people during my project and Jenny was no exception. We spent a lovely couple of hours in her studio chatting and photographing as she worked.

Have a little look at her website to see all of her wonderful designs.

At work series 6 – Fawn, Print Maker

Busy couple of weeks for blog posts, getting all up to date before Christmas holidays!

Todays post is another of my personal “At Work” projects, featuring Fán Regan of Fawn Prints. Her prints are beautiful, hand-printed using the best quality (non-toxic) inks and paper.
I love her designs, so clean and simple with a lovely pop of colour.
We had a wonderful few hours chatting away about her work and it was really interesting to see how her prints are made.

To see more of her beautiful work check out her website.

At work series 3 – Mianra Soaps

When I started thinking about my “at work” project I knew there was definitely someone I wanted to include in it, myself and Hajni had chatted (online) numerous times but because she is based in Cork I wasn’t sure when I could manage a trip down there to photograph her. Then it all fell into place thanks to a family holiday in Glengarriff and an accommodating husband 🙂

I had a lovely time in her workshop and wish I had longer to have chatted some more, but I am sure we will meet up again.

Visit her website to see her wonderful products.

At work series 2 – Ceramic Artist Karo

Some photos I took of the very talented Karo at work in her studio as part of a personal “At work” project I am undertaking.
I had a very enjoyable & interesting morning watching Karo working in her studio, getting to know her, seeing the wonderful work she produces and having lots of laughs.

You can find her shop on Etsy & you can read a lovely feature on Karo that appeared on an Etsy blog recently.

At work series 1 – My Dad, The Carpenter

I am hoping to do a small series entitled “At work” whereby I get to document some talented people from various walks of life, in their workplace, documenting their surroundings and their creations.

First up is a very personal post, it is my Dad at work and a place that holds lots of memories for me. I was always amazed at the things he was able to make, the smell of the sawdust and the smooth feel of the wood.
These days my daughter loves to wander out and see what her grandfather is up to, asking lots of questions as she explores just like we did when growing up.

Couldn’t forget about his garden and greenhouse …
